One of the basic skills that is needed to be successful in a career and personal relationships is rarely taught in school. If the people in our lives while we are young did not have knowledge of how to manage their emotions or how to manage relationships, those skills or lack of, were probably passed down to us. Kids are sponges. They are soaking up everything. Learning how the world works, their relationships, how to set boundaries and how to express themselves. They learn from those adults and peers around them. If they did not have a good mentor in these areas, chances are they mimic what they saw. Here at the The MARE Foundation we are going back to the basics. Rebuilding that foundation. Obtaining those skills that were not taught. Re-learning how to be self-aware, self-management, social awareness and relationship management.

“There’s no ‘should’ or ‘should not’ when it comes to having feelings. They’re part of who we are and their origins are beyond our control. When we can believe that, we may find it easier to make constructive choices about what to do with those feelings. […] There’s the good guy and the bad guy in all of us, but knowing that doesn’t ever need to overwhelm us.”
The World According to Mr. Rogers, p. 20; p. 176
